International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime

High-Level Event to mark the International Day for the Prevention of and Fight Against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime and to Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the UN Convention Against Organized Crime . Co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Morocco and Peru to the UN, along with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The 2025 International Day commemoration, the second of its kind, carries special significance. It marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UNTOC and its Protocols against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants , as well as the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of its third Protocol on Firearms . The 2025 campaign, “Follow the money. Stop organized crime.” , will highlight the cost of transnational organized crime and underscore the importance of tracing illicit financial flows to cut the lifeline of criminal networks . By targeting the profits of organized crime, we can disrupt operations, strengthen justice and return stolen assets to communities. Everyone, including Member States, international organizations, civil society, the private sector and individuals, is encouraged to take part in this year’s campaign. #StopOrganizedCrime

The United Nations General Assembly  declared by the Resolution A/RES/78/267  the date of  November 15th as International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime in March 2024, in order to raise awareness of the threats posed by all forms of transnational organized crime and to enhance international cooperation in this regard. It recognized the importance of the prevention of and fight against transnational organized crime for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development .
